Chief Vern Ervin (March 25, 1920 - September 19, 1972) Chief Ervin died from a gunshot wound while in the performance of his duties in the Town of French Lick. Chief Ervin was 52 years of age at the time of his death. Chief Ervin was survived by his wife Thelma, two daughters, Mrs. Robert Montgomery and Mrs. Frank Reed, and one son, David Ervin.
